OpenMW is a complete game engine that can either run Morrowindor original projects created with OpenMW-CS, such as Example Suite.

External tools like mlox or nifskope can be run through MO to see the consolidated /data Files folder in the virtual file system. It cannot launch OpenMW which uses its own VFS, but a script N made by AnyOldName3 can automatically add to your openmw.cfg all the data= and content= entries related to your MO profile. Morrowind¶
Once you find the Morrowind folder (usually in the Bethesda Softworks folder), there should be a folder in there called 'Data Files' where you'll want to dump your mod files. Then, once you start up Morrowind and open the data files mod list, you'll see the mods you have. - Make sure that the retail CD is in your computer's CD/DVD driveand the Installation Wizard is running.
- On the 'Select Installation Method' screen of the Installation Wizard,choose 'Install Morrowind to a New Location' and click the 'Next' button.
- Choose a location to install Morrowind to your hard drive(or accept the suggested location) and click the 'Next' button.
- Select your preferred language for the installationand click the 'Next' button
- Select which official expansions (Tribunal or Bloodmoon) should be installed.For best results, it is recommended to have both expansions installed.
- Click the 'Install' button.

- On the 'Select Installation Method' screen of the Installation Wizard,choose 'Select an existing Morrowind installation' and click the 'Next' button
- Select an installation. If nothing is detected, click browse.
- Navigate to the directory containing the file
Morrowind.esmand select that file.

You will be asked if you wish to import settings from
Morrowind.ini.Select 'Import', otherwise OpenMW will not work.(You do not need to check the box 'Include selected masters and plugins').The OpenMW launcher window should now open.Switch to the 'Data Files' tab and check the box to the left of
Morrowind.esm.You are now ready to play!
Installing Morrowind¶
Retail CD and GOG¶
Windows users can run the installer if they haven't already.By default, both Bethesda's official installer on the retail CDand the GOG installer install to C:ProgramFilesBethesdaSoftworksMorrowind.You will find Morrowind.esm there.
Users of other platforms running Wine, will find it at~/.wine/drive_c/ProgramFiles/BethesdaSoftworks/Morrowind
Steam¶
Windows¶Windows users can download Morrowind through Steam.Afterwards, you can point OpenMW to the Steam install location atC:ProgramFilesSteamSteamAppscommonMorrowindDataFilesand find Morrowind.esm there.
If you are running macOS, you can also download Morrowind through Steam:

Select 'Static' in the 'Object Window', and right-click on any item in this window. A window pops up: select 'New' in order to create a new object.
For ID, type 'furn_mychair', and hit 'Add Art File'. Now select 'mychair.nif' from Morrowind's game mesh folder ('.MorrowindData Filesmeshesmychair.nif').
Drag it into Arrille's Tradehouse

An entry 'furn_mychair' should appear in the 'Object Window' list under the 'Static' tab: you may have to scroll down to see it. Now in the 'Cell View' window, double click on 'Seyda Neen, Arrille's Tradehouse'. Double click on 'tolvise othralen' to get a nice view from inside the tradehouse. No drag 'furn_mychair' into the render window. Press 'F' to drop the chair on the ground.

Save & test
Now, do 'File->Save', and name your plugin 'test123.esp'.
